Michelle Sim interview

We'd love to start with an intro! Could you please introduce yourself?

Hey K-Snax fam! I’m Michelle, a fitness expert, retired professional dancer, wellness junkie, currently pursuing a career in the healthcare industry. I grew up in Orange County and Los Angeles but I’ve been living in New York City for a little over 3 years!

You have so much going on as a fitness instructor, content creator, and pharmaceutical sales professional. What's a typical day like for you?

I inherently love keeping busy, so Juggling multiple careers is an environment I thrive in. The biggest struggle for me however, is not being able to give MORE into the side hobbies. Since I dedicate my energy to my 9-5 on Mondays-Fridays, I’m currently only teaching 4 classes a week as a part-time fitness instructor, 2 on weekdays before or after work, and 2 on the weekends. What’s left of my evenings and weekends are my only opportunities to edit and shoot content.

At the end of the day, helping others and sharing information is what I’m passionate about, so teaching fitness and creating content doesn’t feel like work at all. The goal is to one day have my own brand, so I'm focused on growing my audience now whenever I can.

What was it like cheerleading for the Rams and Clippers?

Working for the NFL and NBA were some of the greatest experiences I’ve lived for reasons beyond performing in front of thousands of people. From the audition process of competing against 400+ other women, learning to balance your career while attending late night rehearsals and multiple games a week, making time for the gym to stay in shape and be able to execute the routines, adhering to the high moral standards when being interviewed by media channels while representing a massive organization and working amongst top executives, athletes and celebrities, the role really taught me the tools to be successful in any professional workplace. Especially now that I am pursuing sales in a highly competitive field, the skills I acquired through working for the NFL and NBA were transferable as I interviewed for positions within the Pharmaceutical industry.

Both organizations have provided me an incredible network, opened doors for me in my dance career and provided opportunities to travel and perform in international countries. The greatest blessing to come of these experiences however is the sisterhood. Some of my best friends til this day are former teammates while dancing for the NBA.

Prior to dancing for sports teams, I was extremely dedicated to my former dance company Kaba Modern based out of UC Irvine. KM was known for honoring the fundamental dance genres like popping, locking, waacking and commercial hip hop, so the training I received while on this team was immeasurable. Similar to the Clippers Spirit, my best friends til this day are also from Kaba Modern so I cherish these relationships and memories like no other.

What do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy anything that gets me active, whether its going for a walk or run, hot yoga, dancing, boxing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, surfing, photography, live music, live sporting events, broadway shows or traveling.

At the same time, spa days are like my religion. Massages, cold plunge/contrast therapy, red light therapy, saunas, jacuzzi, steam rooms, and facials are my love language.

I also love learning about advances in medicine, health biohacking, anti-aging therapies and supplements, different recovery methods, so i often get IV infusions (like NAD, vitamins, chelation), chiropractor and acupuncture treatments.

What are your favorite Asian snacks?

Where do i begin?? I love anything with taro or red bean. Some of my favorite Korean snacks that come to mind would be Samyang Chang Gu Honey Crunch Snack Honey, i also love hodddeuk (honey + nut pancakes)!
